Filed Notes

Subject: a painting that was produced based on series of observational drawings

Aim: explore the process of collecting visual data from first hand and primary research sources, collating and transforming it in a studio setting.

Medium: drawing and painting

Impact: a better understanding of a habitat for a human, to look it at an artistic angle and review the mundane living life

Threshold concept: breaking patterns of making and responding to the world around me

Kamishibai

Subject:folk stories collected from the tradition of my born country. Those stories will be translated in illustrations using objects and through the techniques of basic printmaking.

Aim: to translate the folk tale into a from without language barriers — illustrations and voice over

Medium: digital (video)

Impact: did the audience successfully receive the storylines based on my communicative approach

Threshold concept: how to integrate a cultural or local matter with images and illustrations

Monumental

Subject: Objects to mark history and collective memory

Aim: To design an object that helps us to remember

Impact: Did the memorial effectively solve the problem I discovered in the galleries?

Threshold concept: The relationship between the work and its intended site

Narrative Flux

Subject: narrative

Aim: to illustrate a story in a sequence way

Medium: 2 metres long concertina book

Impact: how these separate plots and images interact and later on fuse together to form a long and coherent illustration

Threshold concept: the second colour added did not only play a role in visual contribution, but also the atmosphere and mood I intended to communicate.

Monogram

Subject: a symbol combining my initials

Aim: to represent the person’s personality through initials

Medium: digital (gif)

Impact: how the final monogram represent the side of me I want to show to my audiences as both a designer and a communicator

Threshold concept: to choose a particular or multiple identities I want to communicate through monogram.

Task 2

Pages & Co

The idea was not only initiated by the sound I was interested, but was also further developed by a recent philosophical concept, Plato’s three co-existing worlds, I read on a book.

I finally are able to integrate my personal thinkings on philosophy with my creative practice.

The stages of developing are not always smooth. This is the first project that I experienced doubt and overturn.

I felt the work I made was brought up to a new level where I could discuss my uncertainty instead of trying to persuade or advertise my philosophy. In that case I found another avenue of communication.

Task 3

1 .Interactive installation which involves physical contact are facing challenges and ban

2. International travels are at higher risks so the industries will be more divided by nations or continents (geographic barriers)

Exciting ideas

1. fresh conversations on the pandemic could initiate tons of creative works

2. Isolation / quarantine allows us to reconsider loneliness and self care

3. A lot more remote or digital art platform will be designed and put in use which allows more variety to get to know the industry

4. Discussing social distancing — pros and cons, our desire to have physical contact verses avoiding noneffective socialising

To design an ideal environment / neighbourhood who allows human beings, technology, and suitable social distancing take place at the same time

how changed since joined the pathway: communication became the priority

philosophical concepts - discussing not persuading - out of curiosity - a bold attempt
culture - I realised later that I chose to use a poem from my own culture without even noticing - how my culture has unconsciously influenced me - that spirit penetrate into lots of aspects of my works - not just cultural content, but also sophisticated traditional techniques
