I was inspired by the soundtrack of dawn — how all the creatures sing to announce another start of day. So the direction was initially about we, as humans, how we celebrate another sunrise.

After seeing the art exhibition “the end” by Andrea Galvani, I was exposed to a sense of how subjective the same object could be when viewed by different individuals; the colours could be different, the brightness could be different, and even sound made by the ocean waves could be different.

That reminded me of some contents I read from a book that there were three worlds in Plato’s mind, there are basically three worlds existing — 1.Mathematical world, 2. Physical world, and 3. Mental world.

World 1: the world of physical objects and events, including biological entities.

World 2: the world of individual mental processes.

World 3: the world of abstractions that emerge from and have an effect back on world 2 through their representations in world 1

Therefore, the avenue was more clear — to make a set of drawings concerning these three worlds. In order to make connection to the sunrise, I made some further development: for world 1, I could interpret the world by showing a more grand and infinite space where we human does not really matter, that is how this mathematical world is — above everything and being immortal and absolute. For world 2, this is how we see the previous world, so physically sunrise is the normal phenomenon of earth rotation. For world 3, I want to depict a scene where humans are celebrating the new sunrise — how we abstractly understand the sunrise or time.
